Bulgarian queer artist and songwriter Ivo Dimchev transforms personal and social hardship into provocative public and intimate private spectacles, boldly exploring sexuality, identity, faith, and activism in a liberating celebration of queer visibility.

 

* Screening followed by a conversation with Ukrainian performance duo Sasha and Boji (mofo collective), Cristina Planas Leitão, artistic director of the Materiais Diversos festival, and Aura da Fonseca, transdisciplinary artist, moderated by Constança Carvalho Homem, programmer at Queer Porto.

Bulgaria


Kristina Nikolova, born in Bulgaria, grew up in a family of cinematographers. She studied Film Theory at the University of Chicago, then directed and shot award-winning shorts at NYU’s Tisch School. Her debut feature "Faith, Love and Whiskey" premiered at Slamdance 2012, earning a nomination from the Bulgarian Film Academy. She also filmed and produced "Touched with Fire" (SXSW 2015, NYT Critics’ Pick), and is the co-founder of Lunaclipse Media production company.
